Alamo Australia Rental Terms for travel between 21-Nov-2014 and 31-Dec-2019

Payment
An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard.

The balance will be secured directly by the supplier on arrival.

Additional Driver Policy
Additional driver fee is 5.00 AUD per day plus GST to a maximum of 5 days (25.00 AUD plus GST). A maximum of four (4) additional drivers are permitted.

Age Requirements
The minimum rental age is: 21 Years for car groups ECMR, CDAR, IDAR, IFAR, SDAR.
25 Years for all other car groups.
There is no maximum rental age.
A charge of 27.50 AUD per day plus GST applies to drivers aged 21-24 years - there is no maximum charge.

Condition of Vehicle
Vehicle must be returned, normal wear & tear expected, in the same condition as when rented. If special cleaning is required a separate charge will be made directly to the customer

Cross Border Policy
Parts of Australia are not suitable for access by rental vehicles. To prevent damage to the Vehicle and for the customers own personal safety, we strictly apply conditions that restrict the use of the Vehicle as follows:
1) Unless given prior written consent, the vehicle must never be taken on any Unsealed Road unless Unsealed Road Cover (4WD or ALWD) has been purchased (see Insurances & Waivers section).
Even if Unsealed Road Cover (4WD or ALWD) has been purchased the vehicle must never be taken Off Road or any of the other roads listed below:
(a) Off Road;
(b) Between mainland Australia and Tasmania in either direction;
(c) Onto any island that is off mainland Australia or Tasmania, with the exception of:
(i) Kangaroo Island;
(ii) Stradbroke Island;
(iii) Magnetic Island;
(iv) Bribie Island; or
(v) Phillip Island;
(d) On flood prone roads or any road where the state or condition of the road make the use of the Vehicle unsafe;
(e) On any road where the police or any government or statutory authority has issued a warning, caution or which has been closed;
(f) Onto any road where we have notified you that the use of the Vehicle is prohibited;
(g) In Queensland:
(i) Fraser Island
(ii) North of Chillagoe or Georgetown;
(iii) North of Cooktown or Laura;
(iv) On the Burke Development Road;
(v) North of Maggieville;
(vi) On Unsealed Roads north and west of Mt Isa;
(vii) On the Bloomfield track; or
(viii) On the Savannah Way;
(h) On the Tanami Track and the Gunbarrel Highway in Western Australia and the Northern Territory; or
(i) On the road from Jim Jim Falls to Twin Falls in the Northern Territory, even if Unsealed Road Cover - 4WD or Unsealed Road Cover - ALWD has been purchased.
2) There are other prohibited areas where you must never take the Vehicle:
(a) In Western Australia:
(i) On the Gibb River Road;
(ii) On the Cape Leveque Road;
(iii) On the road to Windjana Gorge;
(iv) On the Cardabia - Ningaloo Road; or
(v) On the access road from the Great Northern Highway to the Purnululu National Park, commonly known as the Bungle Bungles; or
(b) In the Northern Territory on the Larapinta and Namitjira Drives, commonly known as the Mereenie Loop.
If the Vehicle is a 4WD and you have purchased Unsealed Road Cover - 4WD and you have hired a second spare wheel from us, then you can drive on the roads listed above in points 2 (a) and (b).
3) And under no circumstances are customers allowed to travel:
i) On beaches or through streams, dams, rivers, or flood waters
ii) On flood prone roads or any roadway where the Police or any other Government authority have issued a warning or caution.
Snow coverage is compulsory for vehicles travelling above the snow line. If a client travels to the snow fields without purchasing the Snow Coverage they will be liable for all costs associated with any accident or incident (see Insurances & Waivers section).
Travel on Ferry Services in Australia is permitted for example; to Kangaroo Island and Bruny Island. Note: Liability coverage applies on Ferry services, with the exception that the vehicle has been submerged in water. If the vehicle is damaged as a result, the full cost of the vehicle and all costs to rectify the vehicle to its original condition or replacement of the vehicle will be liable.

License Requirements
Customers must present a full valid driving licence. Probationary or restricted licences are not acceptable nor are photocopies. International arrivals into Australia are recommended to have arranged an International driver’s licence before travel and provide this with their current country licence.  A licence from the originating country will be accepted, providing it is in English and clearly demonstrates the expiry date, drivers address and permit conditions. Licences that are not in English will not be accepted without an international drivers license or a notarised translation acceptance letter. For identification purposes, we also require drivers to provide their credit card details. Photocopies of credit cards are not acceptable as ID.

One Way Rentals
One way rentals are permitted for all car groups and drop charges may apply.
One way rentals to or from Tasmania are not permitted.

International one way rentals are not allowed.

Out of Hours Policy
Out of hours pick ups and drop offs are not allowed.

Payment Policy
All major credit cards are accepted (American Express/Diners Club/Mastercard/Visa). National vouchers, Travellers cheques in AUD and Debit Cards (Visa Debit and MasterCard Debit) are also accepted. Debit cards cannot be used to pay for FFAR, IVAR, HBAR, IXAR, PDAR, PVAR and LDAR. Credit cards and Debit Cards must be in the name of the renter. China Union Pay Cards (CUP), National charge cards and Euro cheques are not accepted. Cash rentals are not accepted, but additional charges may be paid with cash at the end of the rental if required. A security deposit (bond) of $100.00 AUD (including GST) is required which is held on the card until the vehicle is returned. A credit card is always required for deposits. There is a Credit Card/Debit Card Fee of 1.65% applicable for all cards.

Refueling Policy
Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned the same amount of fuel, or a refuelling fee will be charged to the driver upon return at the location. At some locations, the customer has the option to purchase a full tank at time of collection and can return the vehicle without having to refuel.  

Roadside Assistance
A 24 hour emergency road side assistance service is included with every rental. Roadside assistance is free for all mechanical damage defects not resulting from Renter misuse of the vehicle. All non-mechanical defects such as lost keys, keys locked in the vehicle, flat battery due to lights being left on etc will be charged for. Further details on fees and charges can be obtained by contacting the toll free number: 1800 625 035.  Full details on accidents and breakdowns will be provided to the customer at time of rental.

Special Equipment
Infant Seats – CSI (suitable for: 0 – 13Kg / 0 – 12 months) – 10.00 AUD + GST per day, with a maximum charge of 70.00 AUD + GST per rental.
Toddler Seats – CST (Suitable for: 9 – 18kg / 1 – 3 years) – 10.00 AUD + GST per day, with a maximum charge of 70.00 AUD + GST per rental.
Booster Seats – BST (suitable for: 15 – 30 kg / 4 – 7 years) – 10.00 AUD + GST per day, with a maximum charge of 70.00 AUD + GST per rental.
GPS are available and cost 9.95 per day AUD plus GST (10.95 AUD per day including GST) – with a maximum charge of 110 AUD plus GST per rental. There is a replacement fee of $250.00 AUD (including GST) if the GPS is not returned.

Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee costs 5.95 AUD per day plus GST (6.55 AUD per day including GST) – there is no maximum charge. Fee is to partially recover the vehicle registration costs.
Unlimited mileage in most locations for all vehicles excluding IXAR, PDAR, FFAR, IVAR, HBAR & LDAR. These vehicles only have 200 kilometres per day. Additional kilometres are charged 0.275 AUD per km (including GST) for FFAR and 0.363 AUD per km (including GST) for all other car groups, unless contracted product includes unlimited mileage - refer to contracted rate sheet.

WHT covers windscreen, headlights, wheel and tyre damage unless caused recklessly or by a deliberate, willful or criminal act or by driver abuse, but there is no reduction in your Damage Liability Fee and no cover for damage to side and rear windows.  The daily costs exclude GST.

4WD/ALWD – Unsealed Road Cover
Unsealed Road Cover - 4WD means the additional cover that allows some classes of Vehicle (IFAR and FFAR) to be used on an Unsealed Road provided that the road is gazetted but it never allows the use of the Vehicle Off Road. Unsealed Road Cover - ALWD means the additional cover that allows some classes of Vehicle to be used on an Unsealed Road provided that the road is gazetted and graded and maintained by a local, state, territory or government body, authority or council but it never allows the use of the Vehicle Off Road.  The daily cost of $15.00 excludes GST and is only available at the counter.

Snow Liability Cover (SLC)
Snow Cover means the additional cover that allows the Vehicle to be driven in areas above the Snow Line. Snow Line means the gates leading to any of the national parks or snowfields in Australia between 1 June and 31 October, or any area where it is indicated or required that snow chains are to be fitted to the Vehicle.

In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
